vivo has officially launched the vivo X500, bringing a 2K 144Hz display, a 7,500mAh battery, and a camera-focused setup to its latest flagship series.
The full lineup includes the vivo X500, X500 Pro, and the X500 Pro Max. The Pro phones will be covered in a separate article.
Design and Display
The vivo X500 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen can reach up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness.
The display supports refresh rates ranging from 30Hz to 144Hz. This allows the phone to adjust the refresh rate based on the content being displayed. It also supports 2,160Hz PWM dimming for lower brightness levels.
vivo offers the X500 in Earth Echo, Sunny Day, Dawn, and Night finishes. The phone also has IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water.
Internals and Software
The X500 is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600M chipset, which is essentially just a rebranded version of last year’s flagship Dimensity 9500 SoC. This means you’re still getting flagship-grade performance, but not the latest and greatest.
The X500 uses LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage.
The chip is paired with vivo’s latest software platform, OriginOS 7, which is based on Android 17.
On the software side, vivo has added a liquid-themed interface with matching visual effects that can integrate photos into the phone’s interface. Vivo also claims the X500 can maintain smooth performance for up to 72 months, although actual long-term performance will depend on usage and software updates.
Cameras
The X500’s 50MP main camera uses a Blueprint × Sony LYTIA-828 sensor with Zeiss optics. It supports Zeiss gimbal-level stabilization and carries a CIPA 5.5 professional image stabilization rating. The 64MP telephoto camera uses the Sony LYTIA 610 sensor, which is also used in the X500 Pro’s APO telephoto camera. It offers a 72mm equivalent focal length, 3x optical zoom, CIPA 5.5 stabilization, and a minimum focusing distance of 15cm.
The phone also supports additional telephoto accessories, including the Lipstick 200 teleconverter and the 200mm Zeiss Teleconverter G2, which provides 2.35x magnification. For video, the X500 can record 4K footage at 120fps and supports native 8K Live, which Vivo describes as an industry-first. It also supports native 4K cinematic Live and allows users to apply movie-style color profiles while recording. Vivo has worked with platforms such as Weibo to make sharing 8K Live content easier.
The phone also has a 50MP ultrawide camera using Samsung’s ISOCELL JN1 sensor.
Battery and Pricing
The vivo X500 packs a 7,500mAh battery, making it one of the largest-capacity batteries in the series.
The phone supports 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
The vivo X500 is available in three configurations. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model costs $821, while the 12GB + 512GB version costs $895. The top-end 12GB + 1TB configuration is priced at $1,045.
vivo has previously brought premium X-series phones to Pakistan, so a local launch remains possible. However, there is currently no official confirmation of when, or whether, the X500 will be introduced in Pakistan.
