Uzbekistan Raises Minimum Salary Requirement for Foreign Workers

Uzbekistan has increased the minimum monthly salary requirement for foreign employees applying for accreditation cards from UZS 1,271,000 to UZS 1,360,000.

The revised requirement took effect on September 1, 2026, representing an increase of UZS 89,000, or approximately 7%.

The change follows a presidential decree issued on June 23, 2026, which raised the country’s national minimum wage to UZS 1.36 million per month from September 1.

Under the same decree, salaries of employees at budget-funded organizations and student stipends were also increased by 7%.

Accreditation cards are issued to foreign employees working at representative offices of overseas commercial organizations operating in Uzbekistan.

These cards allow eligible foreign employees to work at their accredited representative offices without obtaining separate work authorization from the country’s External Labor Migration Agency. However, the exemption applies only to employment at the accredited representative office.

Under the existing regulations, accreditation cards are issued for up to 12 months and can be renewed. Their validity may be shorter depending on the representative office’s accreditation period or the employee’s authorization.

Applications are handled by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.

Foreign companies can apply for representative office accreditation through the country’s online government services portal. Applications for foreign employee accreditation cards are handled separately under regulations adopted in February 2024.
