Users Report Grok Secretly Lowering Weekly Usage Limits
Grok users are reporting that their weekly usage allowances appear to have become significantly tighter, with some saying the same activities are now consuming roughly twice as much of their quota.
A Reddit post published on October 10 asked whether xAI had lowered the limits “by a lot” this week after the user exhausted their weekly allowance in around half the usual time. Several other users reported similar experiences.
One user said actions that previously consumed a smaller portion of their weekly allowance now appear to cost around twice as much. Another said Grok Build could consume several percentage points from the weekly quota with a single prompt.
The complaints are not limited to this week. SuperGrok users were already reporting at the start of October that weekly quotas appeared to disappear much faster than before, with some burning through nearly half their allowance within a day or two.
Users have also complained for months about xAI replacing older daily limits with a shared weekly quota. Some estimated that the change dramatically reduced the total number of image and video generations available under their subscriptions.
xAI Has Not Confirmed a New Reduction
There is currently no official confirmation from xAI that it reduced Grok’s weekly limits this week.
That means the reports should be treated as user observations rather than a confirmed policy change.
It is also possible that xAI has changed how different features are weighted against the shared quota, which could make the limit disappear faster without technically reducing the total percentage available.
For now, though, the consistency of recent complaints suggests that at least some Grok subscribers are seeing noticeably lower effective usage than they were previously.
The complaints come after several earlier rounds of criticism over Grok’s weekly quota system, with paying users arguing that the limits have become increasingly restrictive without clear communication from xAI.
