Sleeper Bus Owners Get Relief From High Court

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has temporarily barred authorities from taking disciplinary action against sleeper coach operators on motorways. Justice Mohammad Asif issued the interim order after sleeper coach operators challenged regulatory measures and traffic challans issued against their buses.

The court also suspended three directives issued by authorities on June 18, July 14 and September 4 until the next hearing. The order prevents authorities from initiating disciplinary proceedings against sleeper coach operators during this period.

The operators have challenged measures concerning sleeper coaches, arguing that the authorities acted unlawfully by withdrawing certain safety measures and issuing challans against their vehicles. They have asked the court to declare the measures and related actions without lawful authority.

The IHC has sought responses from the concerned authorities and directed them to submit detailed comments on the petition. The court will resume hearing the case in the last week of October.
