Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi has started traveling by train because petrol has become too expensive.
Speaking at an event at Governor House, Hashmi said rising fuel costs were not only affecting ordinary people but were also changing how he traveled.
Hashmi said vehicles leaving Governor House require petrol and cannot simply run without fuel. He added that budget cuts under the government’s austerity drive had also led to several expenses being reduced or abandoned.
The Sindh governor said the austerity campaign had affected the Governor House budget, adding that officials were being more careful about spending.
He also emphasized the importance of long-term planning for national development. Countries that have achieved significant development planned their future over 40 to 50 years.
He discussed China as an example, saying its development had also been supported by long-term planning.
He described the trainee officers as the future of the country and said policing was not limited to enforcing laws. He said police officers also had an important role in addressing social problems and building public trust.
