Senate Launches App to Access Parliament Documents on Phones

The Senate of Pakistan has launched a mobile application to give senators digital access to bills, agendas, committee reports and other parliamentary documents.

The new app will reduce the need for printed documents and make it easier for senators to access parliamentary business from their smartphones and other handheld devices.

Through the application, senators can view the Order of the Day, bills, resolutions, motions, committee proceedings and session schedules. They will also receive notifications about ongoing parliamentary business.

Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani attended the launch ceremony at Parliament House as the chief guest. Federal IT and Telecommunication Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja was also present.

Khawaja said the initiative is an important step toward digital governance and a paperless Parliament. She said the government would continue supporting the Senate with technology, infrastructure and security expertise.

The Senate app is part of Pakistan’s wider move toward e-governance. Similar digitalization efforts are also underway at the National Assembly and provincial assemblies.

The Ministry of IT and Telecommunication said it will continue working with Parliament to support the rollout and further development of the application.
