Rawalpindi to Impound Smoke-Emitting Vehicles
Rawalpindi Traffic Police will launch a large-scale crackdown on vehicles emitting smoke and contributing to air pollution and smog, following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam.
Under the CTO’s instructions, the traffic police have formed special squads and dedicated inspection teams to target polluting vehicles. The teams will conduct checks at transport terminals and the city’s entry and exit points.
CTO Farhan Aslam said authorities would not allow smoke-emitting vehicles to enter Rawalpindi. Police will impound violators’ vehicles and issue heavy fines.
The vehicles will remain impounded until their owners obtain valid fitness certificates.
