Quetta to Get 2,900 Surveillance Cameras Under New Security Plan
The Balochistan government has decided to launch the Quetta Integrated Security Project to modernise the province’s security and policing system.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting on security and policing chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, reported 24NewsHD TV on Tuesday.
Under the Quetta Green Digital Corridor project, 2,900 modern surveillance cameras will be installed across the city to strengthen security and monitoring.
New stations of the Quick Response Force will also be established under the project, while steps are being taken to bring the Balochistan Police in line with modern requirements to better deal with terrorism.
The Additional Chief Secretary Home and the Inspector General of Police Balochistan briefed the meeting on the security situation and ongoing policing measures.
The meeting was also informed that police reforms and departmental accountability were under way, with 871 personnel dismissed over absenteeism and negligence.
It was further told that 1,005 police personnel deployed with various personalities had been withdrawn and sent back to the police department.
Chief Minister Bugti directed that police personnel be provided with the training and resources needed to effectively respond to terrorism-related challenges.
He said the provincial government stood shoulder to shoulder with the police and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
Bugti also stressed the need to control non-developmental expenditures and use available resources for public welfare.
“We have to work for the common man of Balochistan who shivers in the cold and swelters in the heat,” he said.
