Punjab Identified as Lead Agency for $10 Million Youth Climate Grants Project
The Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (EPCCD) Punjab has been identified as the lead agency for a proposed $10 million Youth Climate Action Grants project aimed at supporting more than 1,000 youth-led green projects and building the climate-action capacity of 5,000 university students across Pakistan.
According to documents available with Wealth Pakistan, the initiative is being processed under the World Bank Country Partnership Framework for Pakistan for FY2026-35.
The proposed project will combine financial support for youth climate initiatives with technical mentorship, climate leadership training and a Digital Youth Climate Portal to help young people develop and implement local climate solutions.
Under the plan, more than 1,000 green micro-grants would be provided to youth-led projects, while 5,000 university students would receive climate-action training and capacity-building support.
Proposed activities include nature-based solutions, rainwater harvesting, community composting, urban greening and water conservation, along with technical mentorship and climate leadership development.
University networks and climate change clubs have been identified as implementation hubs for the initiative, though the project document does not specify the detailed responsibilities of partner organisations.
The proposed $10 million project is among the initiatives being processed under the World Bank Country Partnership Framework for Pakistan for FY2026-35.
