Punjab Food Authority Seizes 16 Tons of Animal Waste and 700 Liters of Oil
The Punjab Food Authority has sealed a rendering unit on Manga Road near Rohi Nala after recovering 16 tonnes of animal intestines and various organs, 700 liters of oil prepared from animal offal and bones, and 19 drums of sheep hides and wool.
According to the enforcement team, the raid was conducted on the directions of Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmad after the unit was found involved in producing oil from animal intestines and offal.
The team said the operator was manufacturing oil from animal waste while claiming that the wool was being prepared for export.
Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmad said the unit did not have the required license for fat rendering and processing of animal internal organs.
He added that mandatory records related to processing, waste management and traceability were also missing.
He said there was no room in Punjab for those who put public health at risk and added that enforcement action against such violations would continue.
