Multiple Errors Found in Punjab’s New School Textbooks
The Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) has decided to review new textbooks for nursery through Grade 5 after multiple errors were identified in the curriculum.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had approved the new curriculum for students up to Grade 5, which will be introduced in the 2027–28 academic year.
According to sources, the new textbooks were sent to education experts to identify errors before printing. However, several mistakes were found, prompting authorities to send the books back for another review.
Meanwhile, publishers have urged PECTAA to provide the new textbooks as soon as possible. They said the academic year at private schools begins on January 1, warning that delays in printing could leave the new textbooks unavailable even by March.
According to the Education Department, the review process will be completed within one to two weeks. Officials have assured publishers that all textbooks under the new curriculum will be available in the market before the start of the new academic year.
