Internet services have been partially disrupted in several areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to a cut in an optical fiber cable, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said.
The disruption has affected mobile data and Wi-Fi services in some parts of the twin cities, causing difficulties for residents.
An optical fiber cable was cut within the network of a telecom operator, resulting in partial service issues for some service providers.
The regulator said the internet disruption is limited to certain local and surrounding areas. Internet services in the central and southern parts of the country are operating normally, while some areas in the northern region are also experiencing disruptions.
PTA advised users not to worry about the partial outage. Technical teams are working to repair the damaged optical fiber cable and restore services.
The authority said efforts are underway to restore internet connectivity in the affected areas as soon as possible.
The repair of the cable and complete restoration of services may take a few hours.
