Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate several major road projects in the coming months, Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said during a review meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA).
The projects include the Lodhran-Multan Expressway, Peshawar Northern Bypass and expansion of the Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad Motorway. Khan said these projects are expected to reach completion in the coming months before the prime minister inaugurates them.
The meeting reviewed progress on the NHA’s ongoing and proposed projects, revenue enhancement, road safety, development programs and financial matters.
Khan said work on the Sialkot-Kharian Motorway was progressing rapidly, while construction had started on the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Pakistan Expressway (N-25).
He also directed the NHA to take immediate measures to improve the poor condition of the Lahore-Gujranwala GT Road and provide relief to travelers. Officials briefed the minister on funding for the M-6 Motorway, projects under the Public Sector Development Program and NHA schemes across all four provinces.
