PM Shehbaz Meets Rothschild Company for Collaboration in Capital Markets and Investment Strategy
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met senior executives of Rothschild & Co during his visit to the United Kingdom to discuss Pakistan’s geo economic priorities and potential advisory cooperation on capital markets and investment strategy.
The meeting with Rothschild & Co was held with Lord Mark Sedwill, Chair of Geostrategic Advisory, and Majid Ishaq, Head of UK Investment Banking. The discussions focused on Pakistan’s investment strategy and potential areas of advisory collaboration.
The prime minister also held meetings with senior executives from Barclays, J.P. Morgan, Citi and BlackRock as part of his engagements with major global financial institutions.
At Barclays, the prime minister met Mohammad Kamal Syed, Head of Private Bank and Wealth Management UK, and briefed him on the government’s macroeconomic stabilization measures. He also encouraged the bank to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s financial sector.
During a meeting with a J.P. Morgan delegation led by Matthieu Wiltz, Co-CEO for EMEA, the prime minister discussed expanding cooperation in capital markets, trade finance and investment banking. The delegation expressed interest in sovereign debt capital markets and corporate banking opportunities in Pakistan.
The prime minister also met senior Citi officials led by David Livingstone, Chief Client Officer, and encouraged the bank to expand its corporate and institutional banking services in Pakistan. He separately met BlackRock executives Gordon Fraser, Sam Vecht and Emily Fletcher and invited the firm to increase allocations to Pakistani equities and fixed income under its frontier markets strategy.
The meetings focused on Pakistan’s economic reforms, investment opportunities and efforts to attract international capital. The visiting executives expressed confidence in the country’s reform momentum and reaffirmed their institutions’ interest in expanding engagement with Pakistan’s financial sector.
Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatization and Chairman of the Privatization Commission Muhammad Ali also attended the meetings.
