PM Asked to Act Against Officers Hiding Dual Nationality

The Establishment Division has moved to take disciplinary action against government officers who have failed to declare their dual nationality, seeking the prime minister’s approval to initiate proceedings against them.

According to sources, the Establishment Division has sent a summary to the Prime Minister’s Office requesting authorization to proceed against officers in Grades 20, 21, and 22 who have not submitted the required declarations.

Officers found guilty of misconduct could face a range of penalties, including withholding of promotion, compulsory retirement, or dismissal from service. Show-cause notices will be issued after the prime minister’s approval.

Most Officers Have Yet to Submit Declarations

Of the 2,917 government officers covered by the process, 62.5 percent have not submitted declarations regarding dual nationality. Among those who have submitted their declarations, only 8.68 percent disclosed that they hold foreign nationality.

The officers who have failed to submit declarations include officials in Grades 20, 21, and 22. They belong to the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), Secretariat Group, and Office Management Group (OMG).

The move comes as the Establishment Division seeks to address the non-submission of declarations by government officers and initiate proceedings against those found in violation of the requirements.
