PIA Passes Safety Audit Under New Chairman

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has secured its first International Air Transport Association (IATA) safety renewal since Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Anwar Ali Hyder was appointed chairman.

PIA has now retained its IOSA registration for the 12th consecutive time. The latest renewal is valid until September 11, 2028.

The Risk-Based IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) was conducted in June 2026, before the new chairman’s appointment, while the renewal was announced after he took charge.

The airline successfully completed the IOSA assessment against internationally recognized aviation safety and operational standards.

The audit covered major areas of PIA’s operations, including flight operations, cabin operations, ground handling, and cargo services.

IOSA is IATA’s internationally recognized safety evaluation system for assessing airlines’ operational management and control systems.

PIA described its 12th consecutive IOSA renewal as a big milestone. It also credited its employees with successfully completing the assessment and meeting the required standards.
