Pakistanis Watch 560 Million YouTube Videos Daily
Pakistanis watch around 560 million YouTube videos every day, while the platform has approximately 96 million users in the country, according to figures shared by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (retd.) Hafeez ur Rehman.
He shared the figures during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecom on Tuesday while briefing lawmakers on social media usage in Pakistan.
The PTA Chairman said YouTube had become one of the most widely used digital platforms in the country, with millions of Pakistanis accessing videos every day.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s position among the leading countries in terms of YouTube video consumption.
560 Million Views Does Not Mean 560 Million Viewers
The 560 million figure refers to videos watched in a single day, not 560 million individual viewers. The distinction is important because the same user can watch multiple videos throughout the day.
The figures were shared alongside details about the use of other major social media and communication platforms in Pakistan, including TikTok and WhatsApp.
According to the PTA Chairman, Pakistan has around 100 million WhatsApp users, while the platform also handles billions of messages and calls daily. The briefing came as lawmakers discussed the country’s growing dependence on digital platforms and raised concerns about the quality of internet and mobile network services.
