Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf has urged Babar Azam to seek specialized coaching in England or Australia to address his technical weaknesses and regain his batting form.
Taking to social media platform X, Yousuf advised the former Pakistan captain against playing first-class cricket until he resolves his technical issues, warning that further struggles could damage his confidence and career.
“I don’t think Babar Azam should be playing first-class cricket until he fixes his technical issues through specialised coaching. Struggling in domestic cricket could further harm his confidence and career,” Yousuf wrote.

The former Pakistan batter suggested that Babar train at a cricket academy in England or Australia, expressing confidence that proper guidance could help him return to his best.
“Send him to an academy in England or Australia. He is still Pakistan’s top player, and with the right guidance and a little effort, he can return to his best. I said this four years ago, and nobody listened. Please listen now,” he added.
Yousuf’s remarks come after Babar’s disappointing performance in the recently concluded ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka.
The 32-year-old managed just 118 runs in five matches at an average of 23.60 and a strike rate of 74.21. He failed to score a half-century, registering scores of 45, 34, 10, 29 and a duck against Sri Lanka in the final.
Babar has struggled for consistency in ODIs, scoring just one century since his 151 against Nepal in September 2023. He ended his two-year century drought against Sri Lanka in November 2025, registering his 20th ODI hundred.
He followed that with a half-century against Australia in Rawalpindi in May 2026 but has failed to reach 50 in the format since then.
Meanwhile, Babar is set to represent Lahore Whites in the 2026-27 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which begins on November 3.
Lahore Whites will face Shaheen Afridi-led FATA at the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad.
