Pakistan Extends Airspace Ban on Indian Flights Till November 24

Pakistan has extended the closure of its airspace for Indian aircraft by another month, until November 24, 2026. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to extend the ban, which was previously set to expire on October 24.

According to NOTAM No. A0590, Indian airlines and aircraft registered in India, as well as aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines or operators, will not be allowed to enter Pakistani airspace. The restriction also covers military flights.

The PAA also announced the extension on its official X account.

Ban to Remain in Place Until 4:59 AM on November 24

The new NOTAM came into effect at 7:45 PM on Saturday, October 17, and will remain in force until 4:59 AM Pakistan time on November 24. It applies to both of Pakistan’s flight information regions, Karachi and Lahore.

This is the latest in a series of monthly extensions. Last month, Pakistan extended the airspace ban for India until October 24.

Airspace Closed Since April 2025

Pakistani airspace has remained closed for Indian aircraft since April 23, 2025. India closed its own airspace to Pakistani airlines on April 30, 2025, in response.

The closure has cost Indian airlines billions of rupees, as they are forced to take longer routes on many international flights. Earlier this year, Air India posted a record loss of $2.8 billion, partly due to the Pakistani airspace closure.
