Pakistan Announces 14-Member Squad for Historic FIFA U-15 World Cup
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has announced a 14-member squad for the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival 2026 in Azerbaijan, marking the country’s first-ever participation in a FIFA World Cup event.
The squad will depart from Islamabad for Baku on October 20. The players were selected based on their performances in the PFF National U-17 Championship 2026.
According to the PFF, the tournament will give Pakistan’s young footballers an opportunity to gain international experience, compete against teams from different countries, and represent the country on the global stage.
The inaugural tournament will bring together teams from around 190 FIFA member associations, divided into 32 groups. Group winners will advance to the top-tier competition, while the remaining teams will compete in five other tiers based on their group-stage results.
Nearly 1,000 matches are scheduled across six matchdays at the Hovsan Competition Complex in Baku. The opening match and the tier finals, scheduled for October 30, will be held at Crystal Hall.
The competition will follow an eight-a-side format, with each match consisting of two 20-minute halves to provide young players with more playing opportunities.
FIFA plans to hold the first girls’ edition in 2027, with both boys’ and girls’ tournaments expected to become annual events from 2028.
