Black Forest Labs has launched FLUX 3 Image, a new AI image-generation model designed to give users more control over composition, editing, and reference images.
The model is based on the company’s FLUX 3 foundation model and supports image generation at resolutions of up to 4K.
More Control Over Object Placement
One of FLUX 3 Image’s main features is the ability to define where subjects should appear inside an image using bounding boxes.
Users can specify the location of individual people, buildings or other objects before generating the image. Black Forest Labs says the model can preserve these requested positions while still producing a coherent final image.
This gives users more direct control over composition instead of relying entirely on text prompts.

Up to 10 Reference Images
FLUX 3 Image can accept as many as 10 reference images in a single generation.
The model can use these images to influence the final result, while users can also specify where objects taken from individual references should appear within the generated image.
Black Forest Labs has also demonstrated the model generating images containing Japanese text, including vertical writing.
Pixel-Level Image Editing
The model supports targeted image editing, allowing users to change only selected parts of an existing image.
According to Black Forest Labs, FLUX 3 Image can preserve the original image at the pixel level outside the edited region, reducing unwanted changes to areas the user did not ask to modify.
This could make the model more suitable for workflows where precise local edits are required instead of regenerating an entire image.

4K Image Generation
FLUX 3 Image supports output at up to 4K resolution, allowing it to retain small details when images are viewed or cropped more closely.
The model is currently available as a paid service from Black Forest Labs.
The company also plans to release an open model version in the coming weeks.
