NCCIA Shares New Warning for Everyone
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a public alert urging people to protect their national identity cards, personal documents and other sensitive information to reduce the risk of online fraud and illegal activities.
The agency warned that personal information shared unnecessarily with individuals or websites could be misused for fraudulent purposes.
It advised people to share copies of their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) only with credible and trusted entities.
The agency cautioned that people routinely share personal information in different settings without considering the potential consequences. Such information, it said, could be exploited in online scams and other illegal activities.
What to Do if Your Data Is Misused
The NCCIA advised anyone who discovers that their personal information is being used wrongfully to preserve all relevant evidence and report the matter to the appropriate authorities rather than ignore it.
The agency emphasized that protecting personal identity is an essential part of cybersecurity and urged the public to exercise caution when sharing sensitive information.
