Karachi University Bans Staff from Sharing Official Documents on Social Media

The University of Karachi administration has barred all teaching and non-teaching employees from sharing university-related information on social media.

According to a notification issued by Registrar Dr Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, employees are now required to obtain prior approval from the competent authority before uploading or forwarding any information or official document related to the university on social media.

The notification states that the administration has noticed various official letters and office orders,  particularly those concerning the “transfers, postings, additional charges and suspensions” of employees and officers, being shared in social media groups without permission.

All teaching and non-teaching staff have been directed not to upload or forward any official document or information on social media platforms without prior approval, nor share it with any unauthorised person.

The notification warns that any violation will be taken seriously and may lead to disciplinary action under applicable laws, including Rule 18 of the Government Servants Conduct Rules 1964.

All information designated for public release will be shared only through the University of Karachi’s official social media pages or other authorised channels.
