Islamabad to Get a New 167-Bed Hospital to Offer Free Treatment

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to inaugurate the new 167-bed Margalla Hospital in Islamabad this week, which will offer free diagnostic, medical, and surgical services to residents of the capital and surrounding areas.

The facility, which had remained non-functional for several years, will operate under a philanthropic partnership with Indus Hospital and Health Network.

Federal Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal chaired a meeting to review preparations for its inauguration. The health ministry’s joint secretary and other officials attended the meeting.

Kamal said reviving the facility would help ease pressure on Islamabad’s major hospitals while improving access to quality healthcare for a large population.

He described the partnership as an example of public service, transparency, and the effective use of national resources.

The minister added that the government was taking practical measures to improve healthcare facilities for the public.

The hospital’s opening will bring a previously inactive facility into service, with patients able to access treatment free of charge under the partnership.
