Islamabad to Get 8 New Museums

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that eight museums will be built on around 150 acres in Islamabad to represent different aspects of Pakistan’s history and heritage.

During a visit to government land under illegal occupation in Malpur and Bara Kahu on Wednesday, the minister said the planned museums would include the National Heritage Museum, History Museum, Armed Forces Museum and Islamic Museum. The site has been marked for the project.

Naqvi said 108 kanals of government land in Ahmadpur had been occupied, with construction already carried out there. He added that public property, including land and apartments, was being occupied without fear of accountability.

The minister said there was a need to address cases where people had occupied government land for decades without being questioned. He also referred to people building farmhouses on government land and continuing to use them for 20 to 25 years.

He called for joint efforts by the administration, media, and other stakeholders to address illegal occupation of government land in the federal capital, saying the issue required collective attention rather than action against individual cases alone.

Naqvi reiterated that recovering state land was necessary to move forward with the planned development projects, including the proposed museums.
