At least a dozen kidnapping cases were registered by Islamabad police in a single day on September 17, involving a newborn, women, teenagers, drivers, and other missing persons across different parts of the capital.
One of the incidents involved the alleged kidnapping of a newborn baby boy from Pims Hospital by three women. Police registered a case under Section 364-A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of the child’s mother.
According to police, the women took the newborn outside the hospital, but the incident was noticed immediately. The complainant’s mother-in-law, a female doctor and a security guard searched for the suspects, managed to trace them and recovered the baby. The women were later handed over to police for further legal action.
In I-9/4, a married woman was reported kidnapped along with her Honda City. A case was registered under Section 496-A of the PPC after her husband approached the police.
He told police that his wife had last spoken to him on the phone and said she was visiting a friend and would return shortly. However, she did not return, leading him to suspect that she had been kidnapped along with the vehicle.
Another kidnapping case was registered in Garden Town under Section 365 of the PPC after a woman reported her son missing.
According to police, the woman returned from Karachi and found that her son was not at home, while his phone had also remained switched off since Friday. Neighbors told her that some people carrying her son’s photograph had visited the area and asked about him before later reaching the house and taking him away.
A 15-year-old girl was also reported missing from Iqbal Town after leaving for the market to make a purchase. Her mother told police that the family searched for her but could not trace her. A case was registered under Section 365-B of the PPC.
In Sihala, an unidentified man allegedly stole valuables from a house and also kidnapped a woman. Her husband filed a complaint, following which police registered a case under Section 496-A of the PPC.
A separate case was reported from the same area involving a 21-year-old woman who disappeared after leaving home for work at a factory. Her father lodged a complaint, and police registered a case under Section 365-B. Her whereabouts remain unknown.
An 18-year-old girl was also reported kidnapped from her home in Model Town. Her mother alleged that a man had taken her away, prompting police to register another case under Section 365-B.
Similarly, a 17-year-old girl was reported kidnapped from Naiabadi Barakah. Her grandmother nominated a man in the complaint and accused him of kidnapping the teenager. Police registered a case under Section 365-B of the PPC.
In I-9/2, the driver of an officer was reported kidnapped after leaving his employer’s office. Police registered a case under Section 365 following a complaint by his brother.
The driver had handed over the vehicle’s key to his employer and said he was going out for some work. He has remained missing since then.
In another case, the driver of an online cab service disappeared along with his vehicle. His father told police that his son had left home two days earlier and had not returned. A case was registered under Section 365.
Police also registered a kidnapping case over the disappearance of a 16-year-old boy from Bilal Town. His father said the boy had left the house after a dispute and had been missing since then.
The family searched for him but was unable to locate him, after which the father requested police assistance in finding his son.
