Islamabad Expands Free Hepatitis C Screening and Treatment Services

The District Health Office Islamabad has expanded access to free Hepatitis C screening, diagnosis and treatment services at several public health facilities across the capital under the Prime Minister’s National Programme for the Elimination of Hepatitis C.

According to official sources, free Hepatitis C services are now available at Rural Health Centres Tarlai, Bhara Kahu and Sihala, Community Health Centres Rawat and Shah Allah Ditta, and Basic Health Centres Sohan and Golra Sharif.

The initiative aims to promote early detection and timely treatment of Hepatitis C and improve access to essential healthcare services, especially at the primary healthcare level.

The DHO said free medical consultation, screening and other Hepatitis C-related services are also being provided at government health facilities across Islamabad.

Health authorities said Hepatitis C is a preventable, diagnosable and treatable disease, and timely screening and treatment can help avoid serious complications.

Citizens have been advised to visit their nearest government health facility for screening and medical consultation and seek timely advice if they suspect exposure or have related health concerns.

The DHO also urged people to adopt preventive measures and cooperate with healthcare workers to support efforts aimed at reducing the burden of Hepatitis C in the capital.

The initiative is part of broader national efforts to expand access to Hepatitis C screening and treatment and move toward eliminating the disease.
