Islamabad Police has denied reports claiming that a Punjab-style Crime Control Department (CCD) unit is being established in the federal capital.
A police spokesperson termed the reports baseless and unverified, saying no such new CCD-style wing is being set up.
The spokesperson said Islamabad Police already has dedicated departmental units that are performing their assigned duties effectively.
Islamabad Police currently operates specialized units for different types of policing and investigations, including counter-terrorism and crime investigation functions, rather than relying on a single new CCD-style structure.
The clarification comes as the capital police continue to focus on strengthening existing policing arrangements, including surveillance, patrolling and action against criminal elements across different zones.
Police have urged citizens and social media users to avoid sharing unverified reports and rely on official information.
The statement was issued after claims circulated on social media suggesting that Islamabad Police was preparing to establish a new unit modeled on Punjab’s CCD.
