Honor’s New $195 Phone Packs an 8,300mAh Battery and Rugged Build

Honor has launched the Play 11 in China as another affordable model in its Play series, focusing on battery life, durability and everyday performance.

The phone joins the Play 11C, Play 11T, Play 11 Plus and Play 11 Pro, with prices starting at around $195.

Design and Display

The Honor Play 11 features a 6.872-inch TFT LCD with a resolution of 1592 × 720 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The panel can reach up to 1,020 nits in HBM mode and supports DC dimming, eye comfort, and a natural light-like display mode.

Honor has given the phone IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance. It has also received SGS Gold Label five-star certification for drop and compression resistance.

Honor claims the device can survive drops from heights of up to 2.5 metres.

The Play 11 measures 168.3 × 78.54 × 8.30mm and weighs 216.5 g, and comes in Desert Gold, Misty Purple, Meteor Silver, and Phantom Black.

Internals and Software

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

It ships with Android 16-based MagicOS 10.0.

Honor has also added a dedicated AI button on the side. A single press can identify and dismiss pop-up windows, while the key also provides shortcuts to features including Honor Any Door, remote assistance, and AI face-swap detection.

Connectivity includes 5G, dual nano-SIM support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and USB-C.

A side-mounted fingerprint sensor handles biometric authentication.

The phone also features stereo speakers with a high-volume mode that Honor says can increase output by up to 400%.

Cameras

The Honor Play 11 has a single 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture.

On the front is a 5MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture for video calls and selfies.

Battery and Pricing

The Play 11 packs a large 8,300mAh battery, although its rated capacity is listed as 7,900mAh.

It supports 45W wired charging as well as wired reverse charging.

Honor claims the battery is designed to maintain its health for up to six years under the company’s laboratory testing conditions.

The Honor Play 11 costs around $195 for the 6GB + 128GB version. The 8GB + 128GB model costs around $225, while the 8GB + 256GB version is priced at around $265.
