Asset details of Grade 17-22 government officers will be declared and published on a designated government website, according to a briefing given to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The development was discussed during talks between Pakistan and the IMF on the fourth review of the country’s $7 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, sources told ProPakistani.
Officials from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Establishment Division and Finance Division briefed the IMF delegation on the measures related to asset declarations by civil servants.
IMF was informed about legislation introduced to regulate the financial conduct of government employees. A new Section 15-A has been added to the Civil Servants Act for this purpose.
Under the proposed framework, officers in Grade 17 to Grade 22 will have to disclose their assets. Their asset details will also be made available through a designated government website.
FBR officials separately briefed the IMF on customs and income tax matters, while relevant policy wings provided updates on tax policies.
The Secretary Establishment Division and Secretary Finance Division also participated in the discussions, sources added.
