Govt Raises Polio Workers Allowance

The Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme has announced a 28 percent increase in the daily allowance of frontline polio workers.

According to the National Emergency Operations Centre, the revised allowance will take effect from the next nationwide polio vaccination campaign.

Focal person Ayesha Raza Farooq said the next campaign will run from September 21 to 27 across 115 districts of the country.

She said more than 31 million children will receive polio drops during the drive.

Officials said the allowance increase will provide better financial support to frontline workers who take part in vaccination activities across the country.

Polio teams, including field workers and campaign staff, play a key role in reaching communities and ensuring that eligible children receive the oral polio vaccine.

Authorities said the upcoming campaign will be part of Pakistan’s continued efforts to stop the spread of poliovirus and protect children from the disease.

They also stressed the need to ensure smooth operations for vaccination teams and maintain coverage in all targeted districts.
