The Punjab government has appointed all deputy commissioners (DCs) as interim chairpersons of the newly established Suthra Punjab agencies in their respective districts.
According to a notification issued, the appointments were made under Section 11(2) of the Suthra Punjab Authority Act, 2026.
The notification stated that the DCs have been designated as chairpersons of their respective Suthra Punjab agencies on the directions of the local government and community development minister, who also serves as vice chairperson of the authority.
The appointments are temporary and will remain in effect until regular chairpersons are nominated by the chief minister or until further orders.
As chairpersons, the DCs will convene and preside over meetings of the agencies and oversee their statutory, administrative, and operational affairs.
The move provides interim leadership for the newly established district-level agencies until permanent chairpersons are appointed.
