ECC Approves Rs. 275 Billion for Major Water Sector Projects

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 275 billion for important water sector projects under the Ministry of Water Resources.

The decision was taken during an ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division in Islamabad on Wednesday.

According to a Finance Division press release, the allocation will support the development of key water infrastructure and help advance ongoing projects.

The approval is among several financing and development decisions taken by the committee, which considered 11 agenda items submitted by different ministries and government divisions.

The Finance Division did not identify the individual water projects covered by the Rs. 275 billion allocation or provide a project-wise breakdown of the funding in its announcement.

The ECC also approved supplementary funding for defence projects, a gasification programme for villages near gas production fields and other sectoral measures during the meeting.

The committee was attended by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kiyani and senior government officials.
