Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has paid tribute to Rescue 1122 rescuers and emergency hospital staff for their services to humanity, stressing the importance of timely first aid in saving precious lives.
She said first aid is indispensable in accidents and emergency situations and called for greater public awareness about basic first-aid practices to help build a safe and healthy society.
The chief minister said the Punjab government is pursuing a policy of using all available resources to save lives during emergencies and is taking every possible step to improve emergency medical services.
Maryam Nawaz said Punjab was the first province to launch an air ambulance service to ensure patients receive treatment during the golden hours after an emergency.
She said first aid and rescue services were also provided in flood-hit areas through Clinics on Wheels, Field Hospitals and Clinics on Boats.
The chief minister said Rescue 1122 is working round the clock to serve humanity and provide immediate medical assistance to people involved in accidents.
She stressed that every citizen, especially young people and students, should be given basic first-aid training.
