Chinese humanoid robots dressed in traditional Saudi attire performed the iconic Ardah sword dance at a reception in Riyadh marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The reception, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia, was held at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter.
The robots appeared in traditional Saudi dress, including thobes, ghutras, agals, and green scarves bearing the Saudi emblem of two swords and a palm tree.
During the performance, the humanoid robots carried sticks and performed coordinated movements inspired by the traditional Najdi Ardah, accompanied by its characteristic rhythms and chants.

Riyadh Region Mayor Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf and Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chang Hua attended the event alongside diplomats, officials, and other guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Chang Hua said the embassy had organized the reception to commemorate the anniversary and thanked guests for attending.
“Chinese-manufactured robots delivered stunning performances that left a profound impression on those in attendance,” the ambassador said.
Footage of the performance also gained attention on social media, with users and technology enthusiasts reacting to the unusual blend of advanced robotics and Saudi cultural heritage.
The display showcased the ability of humanoid robots and artificial intelligence technologies to replicate complex human movements while presenting a traditional cultural performance in a modern setting.
