Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has formally assumed charge as the new Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police.
A formal change-of-command ceremony was held and a police contingent presented him with a guard of honor.
Sohail Chaudhry held introductory meetings with police officers and received briefings on professional and operational matters. He also met the Central Police Office staff and discussed various issues.
The new IG later visited the Martyrs’ Memorial.
Sohail Chaudhry said maintaining law and order and protecting citizens would remain his top priorities. He said police services would be made more timely and effective.
He also called for stronger crime prevention, better traffic management, improved public services and greater use of modern technology in policing.
The IG said efforts would be made to further strengthen public trust in Islamabad Police.
He also stressed stronger accountability and discipline within the force and said the sacrifices of police martyrs would always be remembered.
