A 17-year-old boy was injured in a lion attack at a businessman’s outhouse in the Thapla area of Kharian. According to reports, Zakariya Butt, 17, a resident of Sattarpura, Kharian, was brought to the emergency department of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kharian on Thursday with injuries.
Doctors initially treated the incident as a dog bite. He was later referred to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH), where Butt told doctors that a lion had injured him at the outhouse.
He had gone there with a friend to see the lions being kept there. Butt received treatment at the hospital, and doctors said he was out of danger.
Following the incident, a Wildlife Department team visited the outhouse and took the lions into custody. The department also filed a case against their owner.
Saddar Kharian police registered a case against the outhouse owner under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Act, 1974.
