Xiaomi may reduce the battery capacities of the global versions of its Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max compared with the models launched in China. According to tipster Kacper Skrzypek, battery details found in HyperOS code suggest the international Xiaomi 18 Pro will have a 6,000mAh battery, while the global 18 Pro Max could feature a 7,050mAh cell.
Global Xiaomi 18 Pro Could Lose 1,000mAh
The China version of the Xiaomi 18 Pro, launched on September 23, features a 7,000mAh battery. However, the global model, identified by model number 2609BPN61G, is reportedly listed with a 6,000mAh battery.
That would represent a 1,000mAh reduction, or around 14% less capacity than the Chinese version.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could see an even larger reduction. The China model packs an 8,500mAh battery, while the global version, listed as model 2611FPNFAG, is reportedly equipped with a 7,050mAh battery. This represents a 1,450mAh reduction, or roughly 17%.
Despite the cut, the global 18 Pro Max would still have a slightly larger battery than the China-market 18 Pro.

Charging Speeds Could Remain Similar
The reported global models are expected to retain charging speeds close to those of their Chinese counterparts, with maximum wired charging of 90W or 100W.
However, global specifications for wireless and reverse wireless charging have not yet been revealed. The Chinese versions support 50W wireless charging and 27W reverse wireless charging.
Xiaomi Has Made Similar Battery Cuts Before
This would not be the first time Xiaomi has reduced battery capacity for international versions of its flagship phones.
The China-market Xiaomi 17 comes with a 7,000mAh battery, while its global version launched in February with a 6,330mAh cell, around 10% smaller. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra also went from 6,800mAh in China to 6,000mAh internationally.
Xiaomi has not explained why it makes these reductions. One commonly cited explanation involves international transportation regulations for lithium-ion batteries, particularly in Europe, which limit the energy capacity of individual cells.
Manufacturers can use dual-cell configurations to work around these limits, but such designs can increase thickness, weight, and engineering complexity.
Global Launch Details Are Still Pending
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will receive a global launch later this year, but the company has not announced the launch date, pricing, or markets yet.
The reported battery capacities are also based on HyperOS code rather than official Xiaomi specifications, meaning they could still change before the international models are released.
