Asian Games Organizers Apologize Over Pakistan Volleyball Venue Mix-Up

Organizers of the Aichi-Nagoya Games apologized after a transportation mix-up sent Pakistan’s volleyball team to the wrong venue ahead of its match against Uzbekistan, forcing the game to be delayed.

Pakistan captain Murad Jehan shared a video on Instagram after the team arrived at the wrong venue for its Pool A match, calling the incident “another mismanagement.”

A Games spokesperson said the South Korean men’s team was also affected by a similar issue and missed its practice session after being taken to the wrong venue.

“Both teams boarded buses bound for the wrong destinations. We would like to offer our sincere apologies to both teams for the inconvenience this caused,” the spokesperson told reporters on Tuesday.

The spokesperson said Pakistan was scheduled to travel to Okazaki for its match, but the team’s bus instead headed toward Inuyama, where the practice venue is located.

“The route was later corrected, and upon their arrival in Okazaki, the match was held after pushing back the start time,” the spokesperson said.

“While delaying the start time was undoubtedly a major inconvenience to the team, by adjusting the competition schedule, we were able to ensure that the match itself was conducted properly.”

Despite the disruption, Pakistan secured its second consecutive victory with a comfortable 3-0 win over Uzbekistan.

The organizers had earlier apologized for transportation and logistical problems that have affected the Asian Games.
