Qualcomm is reportedly considering an official solution to improve PC game emulation on Android, including proper support for DirectX 12 on Snapdragon chips.
According to a Chinese YouTuber, Qualcomm may be working on DirectX 12 support that could make running PC games on Android devices much easier.
The YouTuber tested the capability on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 reference device and successfully ran Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong through a translation layer in DirectX 12 mode.
If Qualcomm officially supports the technology, it could simplify PC game emulation on Android devices powered by compatible Snapdragon processors.
However, it remains unclear whether Qualcomm plans to extend the feature to older or other Snapdragon chipsets beyond its latest models.
It is also unclear whether the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 will receive the feature through a driver update. Such updates may ultimately depend on individual smartphone manufacturers.
More information about Qualcomm’s plans could emerge in the coming weeks and months.
