6 PFA Officials Injured During Raid to Seize 1 Ton Dead Chicken
Six Punjab Food Authority (PFA) food safety officers were seriously injured after shopkeepers allegedly attacked a team during an operation involving 1,235 kilograms of dead chickens.
According to the authority’s director general, the attack occurred when officials moved to dispose of the recovered chickens. Shopkeepers allegedly assaulted the team and struck its members with bricks during the confrontation.
The director general said the officers also received death threats and had their mobile phones snatched. Six food safety officers sustained serious injuries in the attack.
The authority closed two shops after recovering the dead chickens. It maintained that the enforcement action was carried out through proper procedures and within its legal powers.
The PFA said the purpose of the operation was to ensure that safe food reaches the public.
