58 Fake Candidates Arrested During Job Interviews in Police Department

Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) police have arrested 58 people for allegedly impersonating candidates during recruitment interviews for corporal and constable positions.

The suspects were taken to a police station, where cases were registered against them under Section 419 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). They have also been disqualified from the recruitment process.

The arrests come as interviews for more than 2,000 shortlisted male and female candidates are underway at the Central Police Office in Gilgit. The recruitment drive aims to fill more than 800 vacant positions in the police department.

According to a police official quoted by Dawn, the suspects allegedly appeared for interviews on behalf of other candidates. Only applicants who passed the written examination were eligible for the interview stage.

A GB police spokesperson said authorities were taking action against those involved in fraudulent activities to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process.

The spokesperson added that action would continue without discrimination to protect the rights of eligible candidates and maintain public confidence in the recruitment process.

Police officials said the interviews were being conducted according to merit and eligibility criteria, and the final list of selected candidates would be released within a few days after the process concludes.
