2 CDA Officials Suspended for Cutting Trees
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended two Environment Wing officials over their alleged involvement in cutting trees in Islamabad’s Sector F-8.
Member Environment Abdullah Khurram Niazi ordered the suspension of a forest guard and a forester after receiving information that three trees had been cut down and branches removed from several others.
Director General Environment Wing Irfan Niazi confirmed that suspension orders had been issued for both officials.
The action brings the number of officials suspended in recent cases involving alleged misconduct to six. Three officials posted in Bhara Kahu were previously suspended over allegations linked to encroachment on forest land.
Another forest guard in Sector I-14 was suspended after a video allegedly showed him accepting a bribe from a private contractor for dumping mud in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, a source said another Environment Wing official in Bhara Kahu had been reprimanded over alleged involvement in construction on forest land. No formal action had been taken against that official so far.
An official welcomed the recent suspensions but called for closer scrutiny of senior officers, along with a review of challan tickets and the status of related cases, particularly in the Bhara Kahu range.
