1 Million Pakistanis Register to Avail Cheap Petrol

More than 1 million people have registered for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, with over 800,000 fuel subsidy tokens generated nationwide, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication said.

The ministry said a 24-hour control room is monitoring the scheme in real time, including registrations, token generation and token redemption across the country.

Punjab and Islamabad have recorded the highest number of fuel subsidy token redemptions so far.

The scheme covers owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The government has also made registration messages sent to 9771 free. Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said telecom operators had been directed to waive the Rs. 1.40 charge previously applied to these messages.

Further details are available on the government’s fuel relief scheme website.
