CDA Clears 750 Kanals to Speed Up Development of Islamabad’s Long-Delayed Sector
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has cleared around 750 kanals of acquired land in Islamabad’s Sector E-12, removing a major hurdle to the sector’s long-delayed development.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf visited Sector E-12 on Saturday and reviewed the progress of ongoing development activities. Officials briefed him that the cleared land had remained under unauthorized occupation and was preventing development in the sector.
The chairman directed officials to accelerate work on the cleared areas and ensure that all activities are carried out according to approved plans, prescribed standards, and relevant laws.
The CDA said the operation was conducted in collaboration with the Islamabad administration as part of broader efforts to remove encroachments, protect public and acquired land, and resolve longstanding issues affecting Islamabad’s development.
Officials also informed the chairman that allotment letters had been issued to genuine affectees after verification of claims and completion of required legal formalities.
During the verification process, the CDA identified unauthorized structures and occupation on acquired state land. The Authority said legal action would be taken against those involved in unauthorized construction, occupation, or commercial use of the land.
Sector E-12 was launched in 1989 but remains incomplete after 37 years.
