The Peshawar district administration has banned the sale and purchase of baajas, or toy horns, ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 14.
The restriction is part of Section 144 imposed in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital to maintain law and order during the country’s 80th Independence Day.
Under a notification issued by the district administration, the restrictions will remain in place until August 15.
Besides toy horns, the administration has banned the sale and purchase of toy pistols and firecrackers. Aerial firing, fireworks, and one-wheeling have also been prohibited.
Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against those violating the restrictions on August 14.
The district administration has particularly urged young people to avoid one-wheeling, saying the restrictions have been imposed to protect the lives and property of citizens.
