Rs. 6.5 Million Stolen From Edhi Center
Four armed men stormed the Edhi shelter home in Sohrab Goth on Friday, held staff at gunpoint and fled with more than Rs6.5 million, police and the charity said.
An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said orphaned children live at the shelter home, while around 250 to 300 staff members also work there.
He said Edhi employees had withdrawn Rs6.5 million from a bank to distribute as monthly salaries when the robbers entered the premises and snatched the cash before escaping.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah condemned the robbery, saying the Edhi home serves the poor and helpless and that such an attack was unacceptable.
He directed the concerned officials to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects.
