Pakistan’s cement sales increased by 6.02 percent year-on-year to 4.48 million tons in July 2026, as strong domestic demand offset a sharp decline in exports at the start of the new fiscal year.
According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), total cement dispatches reached 4.476 million tons in July 2026, compared with 4.222 million tons during the same month last year.
Domestic cement sales rose 17.28 percent to 3.771 million tons, up from 3.215 million tons in July 2025. However, exports declined 29.95 percent to 705,341 tons, compared with 1.007 million tons a year earlier.
North-based cement manufacturers dispatched 3.092 million tons, registering a 9.46 percent increase from 2.825 million tons in July last year. Dispatches by South-based mills, meanwhile, edged down 0.95 percent to 1.383 million tons.
Domestic demand remained particularly strong in the northern region, where local dispatches climbed 19.25 percent to 3.092 million tons. South-based mills also recorded a 9.07 percent increase in domestic sales to 678,147 tons.
Exports, however, weakened across both regions. North-based mills reported no exports during July 2026 compared with 231,985 tons in the same month last year, while exports from South-based manufacturers declined 8.98 percent to 705,341 tons.
Commenting on the figures, an APCMA spokesperson said domestic cement consumption could increase further if the government reduces duties and taxes on cement, arguing that it is an essential commodity rather than a luxury item.
The association also urged the government to provide relief for the rehabilitation of areas affected by heavy monsoon rains, which it said could support construction activity and cement demand.
