The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has announced that all public and private educational institutions across the province will remain closed on August 4, 2026, on the occasion of Chehlum (20 Safar 1448 AH).
According to an official notification issued on July 31, 2026, the decision was taken in line with the approval of the Steering Committee during its meeting held on February 12, 2026.
The notification states that all schools and other educational institutions operating under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, will observe the holiday on Tuesday, August 4.
The School Education Department has directed all relevant authorities, including district education officials, education boards, and private institutions, to implement the notification and ensure its wide circulation.
The holiday will apply to both government and private educational institutions throughout Sindh.
