Samsung’s First Foldable Tablet Could Be Bigger Than Most Laptops
Samsung is reportedly developing a massive foldable tablet that could transform from an 8-inch device into a 17-inch display when fully unfolded.
The information comes from tipster @kro_roe on X, who previously revealed that a large foldable tablet was in development without identifying the manufacturer.
In a new post, the tipster claimed that Samsung has already started working on the device.
However, Samsung has not officially confirmed the project, and details about its specifications, pricing, and release date remain unknown.
Samsung’s Foldable Tablet Could Have a 17-Inch Screen
According to the original leak from August 2026, the upcoming device will offer a 17-inch screen when unfolded and an approximately 8-inch display when folded.
This would make it considerably larger than Samsung’s existing foldable smartphones.
The tipster also claimed that multiple versions and test devices were under development, suggesting that different designs were being explored.
However, the exact folding mechanism remains unclear.

One possibility is an outward-folding display that leaves part of the screen visible when the device is closed.
Another possibility is a design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, featuring a large internal foldable display and a separate external screen.
The second approach would require an additional display, potentially increasing manufacturing costs.
Neither design has been confirmed.
Samsung Has Explored Large Foldable Displays Before
Samsung has previously demonstrated several large foldable display concepts through its Samsung Display division.
The company has showcased experimental screens at technology exhibitions, demonstrating how large panels can bend or fold into smaller devices.
Reports about a possible Samsung foldable tablet also surfaced in 2023, when a device referred to as the Galaxy Z Tab was rumored to be in development.
However, that product never reached the market.
While Samsung has the technology to manufacture large foldable panels, it remains unclear whether the company intends to introduce a commercial tablet using such a design.
Launch Date and Pricing
There is currently no information about when Samsung’s rumored 17-inch foldable tablet could launch.
The tipster has not shared details about its processor, battery, cameras, operating system, or other specifications.
Pricing is also unknown, although a large foldable display and complex hinge mechanism could make the device expensive to manufacture.
The latest rumor comes as smartphone manufacturers continue exploring new foldable designs and larger screens.
For now, the reported 17-inch tablet remains an unconfirmed project, and there is no guarantee that Samsung will release it commercially.
